Good thought. I’ve revised the first paragraph of the spec to reflect Aaron Swartz’s role in the development of Markdown, and this will be in the next release.

He should absolutely be mentioned, but while he was alive (RIP Aaron, you are missed) he didn’t seem particularly interested in “owning” Markdown in the way Gruber clearly was.
