I have been looking for a standards-compliant implementation of Markdown in PHP, have anyone one heard of such a thing?

Unlikely as the spec was just announced and is still provisional.

Author of Parsedown here.

I’d love for Parsedown to become compliant with Standard Markdown.

Hopefully, this would happen for the next release.

I’ve created a port of stmd.js for PHP: https://github.com/colinodell/commonmark-php

It’s currently behind the CommonMark project by 3-4 days, but I’m hoping to catch-up soon.

UPDATE: The project is currently up-to-date with spec version 0.10.
