Adding internationalization (translation) support to the spec

Hello,

I have set up a workflow for translating the CommonMark specification into Japanese in my personal repository. The steps are described in the README.

Before going further, I’d like to raise a few questions and share some context.

Is this something you’d consider accepting?

My primary question is whether you are open to accepting translations of the spec at all (to the commonmark-spec repository). I understand there would be non-trivial maintenance costs, and maintaining translations in a fork may well be the more practical approach. I’d appreciate your thoughts.

A note on timing

Even if a pull request would be welcome in principle, it wouldn’t be ready to merge immediately. The translation workflow relies on po4a with a new CommonMark module that has not yet been released in the next version of po4a (0.75 or so). Waiting for that release would make things easier for maintainers and translators.
Since there is a comment suggesting to wait until things stabilize with 1.0, this is indeed not urgent.

Background

I previously commented on the “About translations” issue in the commonmark-web repository (and posted on this forum). Having tidied up the setup somewhat since then, I feel like we may be one step closer to making i18n of the spec a realistic possibility.

Thank you.
