I don’t think we should be rushing new syntax additions, even if draft state, based on other project requirements. Refer to @codinghorror’s comment in the strikethrough topic; extensions are not the priority over the next six months.
My suggestion is that you use raw HTML in the meantime which is already included in the spec.
