Is there a solution for highlighting CommonMark syntax in **Vim**?

No not yet.

Since Pandoc is headed the direction of standardizing on CommonMark, we have been discussing how to accomplish this for the [vim-pandoc-syntax](https://github.com/vim-pandoc/vim-pandoc-syntax) plugin. See [issue #327](https://github.com/vim-pandoc/vim-pandoc-syntax/issues/327) for relevant discussion. If anybody has input on this we’d love to hear it. A fully strict CommonMark compliant syntax plugin for VIM would be awesome, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be easy to achieve.

See also [this issue](https://github.com/plasticboy/vim-markdown/issues/484) where I just reached out to the developer of the most robust [vim-markdown](https://github.com/plasticboy/vim-markdown) plugin I know of about the issue of targeting the CommonMark spec.
